Have you ever been on a plane when the flight attendant instructed you that in case of emergency, to put on your mask first and then assist those around you? It struck a chord in me recently as I feel that we all “knead” to manage our health and wellness first before pouring ourselves into other people. If we cannot take the time for ourselves, how will we remain filled up, healthy, and available for those who require more time and attention? This comes to massage; chair massage, table massage, or any variety of mobile chair massage.
If we are under constant stress, our bodies gear up and allow the defensive mode to be turned on. In so doing, the stress hormones rise along with heart rates and blood pressure. In addition, the muscles tighten up which allows for more aches and pains and often produces headache tension, leading to migraines. If stress is acute and ongoing, these conditions become the “normal” state for the body and take a toll on its well-being, making it take longer to correct.
Wellness comes in many forms. Taking frequent walk breaks, breathing deeply, exercising, and getting proper sleep and nutrition are ways to improve wellness. Working 40+ hours is taxing for sure, but not including some of these stress relievers can compound an already tough situation.
Writing of which, I just saw an interesting piece about the top super healthy foods that will fill you up in hopes of restoring fresh and often required vitamins and minerals. Some are more commonplace: Greek yogurt, avocados, barley, black beans, berries, broccoli, etc. Others were a bit of a surprise and have recently lost their favor: bananas, black pepper, bok choy, brown rice, etc.
With the help of the internet and new recipes, proper nutrition at lunch can become more exciting when planned out and managed each week. A small investment of time and energy can result in healthy (and better) eating.
Small changes make a BIG difference in daily living. Wellness programs such as chair massages can enhance your health as they allow for a small break to reset which sometimes increases productivity!
