When creating wellness programs for a company, there seems to be a trend of “one size fits all” or generic copy-paste wellness plans for companies. Corporations are going for a more modern, technology-based workspace with an open area building structure. There is definitely a reason for this trend, however, as many specialists have noticed that this style of work can be very beneficial to productivity and energy throughout the day. Companies aim to have high productivity for their company, so why not go with the best option? The reason this can be an issue is that you need flexibility for office space so that nobody is left out. Many clients inquire about the space required when scheduling an onsite chair massage event.

Take into account different needs that workers in your office building may have. Not every person is at the same level socially, emotionally, or even physically, especially following COVID. There are many people who would rather work by themselves in a small four-corner cubicle than in an open area collaborative workspace. It all depends on the individual, and when considering the layout of the building and what to include, get a feel for what everyone wants. It may be beneficial to send out a short mandatory survey to see the interests of everyone before deciding.

Emotional Relief

While being social and discussing plans with your coworkers is a very important aspect of many of our jobs, we also need time to ourselves. The best way to accommodate this is to create a safe quiet zone. A relaxation room with calm, lowlights, and maybe even an area to grab some hot tea or coffee. This style of room allows for a place to go if you need some time alone or away from the loud crowd at work. You can sit down in a comfortable chair, grab a cup of tea, and read a book.

Social Hour

There are also people who experience quite the opposite of a social work environment. Many places have a standard of quiet, calm workplaces. This can be beneficial in allowing for focus and keeping productivity high, but it’s not for everyone. If your workplace is like this, you may want to have social gathering events daily. This can be achieved by having picnics once a week on Fridays and cookies and tea on Mondays. Once you have mapped out a schedule to help employees engage with each other socially for a little bit on a daily basis, you can really improve the overall mood of those who are social butterflies.

Depending on the way your office is set up, it’s important to accommodate areas in the workspace so everyone can do their best. It can be a damper on your overall mood if you’re a social butterfly and your office is constantly so quiet you can hear a pin drop. The other way around as well, it can really be hard to find alone time in an office that’s constantly busy and loud. By accommodating both of these styles of work, you are improving productivity, because employees now have the options and resources to help them get the energy they need.
