Our workload shifts from day to day, as do our therapeutic “kneads.” Chair massage in Maryland is always near me. The first key to receiving a fabulous massage is to discern how you are feeling and what areas would be welcome to massage!

Because there are many types of massage, I always suggest that clients plan the type of treatment that would offer the maximum healing for the time, energy, and money spent.

It is important to consider the type of massage, variation in pressure, and areas of focus to gain the desired outcome.

Below, please find the types of massage to discover your “kneaded” treatment.

TYPES OF MASSAGE:

Corporate onsite chair massage: Typically in an office setting for 15 to 30 minutes for a fully clothed chair massage. The client can often experience a sense of stress relief from back and shoulder strain due to daily office pressures. It is easy to schedule an onsite chair massage with reasonable pricing and is very valuable.

Table massage: Typically offered in a spa or private location with modest clothing.  Clients are placed on a table to allow for a longer massage with a focus on the upper and lower portion of the body. Allow 60 to 90 minutes for a table massage.

TYPICAL MODALITIES WITHIN MASSAGE:

Swedish massage: Typically offered in both chair and table massage types, this technique uses light pressure to relieve stress and promote relaxation and awareness. Clients that request this type of massage prefer lighter pressure with longer strokes with a full body massage on a table. Best for: Relaxing after a long, stressful week.

Trigger Point Therapy: Trigger point massage is typically used for specific areas of pain often with deeper pressure to allow the muscle to release. This type of massage can be administered either through chair massage or table massage.

Sports Massage: This type of massage is often done prior to or following an athletic event in order to allow muscles to loosen. This massage is most beneficial in addition to stretching. This type of massage is typically administered through table massage. Best for: Dealing with sport-specific issues and nagging injuries.

Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage with increased pressure to allow muscles to release chronic tension. Clients that request this type of massage are familiar with a high threshold for pressure. This type of massage can be administered either through chair massage or table massage. Best for: Relieving deep knots and fixing movement patterns.
