chair massage near meAs the imminent beast of summer encroaches, there’s a major elephant in the room of wellness: how can we keep our health goals during the sweltering, carefree time that soon approaches?  The vacation season is upon us! Summer brings the heat although not to worry as the answers are here! The cool temps of Fall are right around the corner! Why not plan a mobile chair massage event when the temps cool?

Don’t let the spirit of summer crush your wellness; let’s revitalize it!

Here are some tips that could help you to fuse summer fun with wellness:

  1. Stay active. We know how hard this can be, what with the heat and busyness that summer brings.
    • Join a pool. Not only are pools cool and refreshing oases amid summer, but they’re also a way to get low-impact exercise! Plus, they provide a place to build relationships with people like you.
    • Take a hike! Trails are usually shaded, which provides you with protection from the sun.   Bring your mask, family, some friends, and lots of water!
    • Plan active times on your vacation. Vacations are great times to just kick back and relax…so do it! Set aside time to both relax and stay active. Snorkel, hike, bike around town. Anything that gets you moving is great!
  2. Eat well. It can be fun! Here are some great summer foods:
    • Watermelon and berries. They’re sweet, and refreshing, and help to replenish your body with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients!
    • They provide you with fiber, vitamins B5, B6, C, K, and monounsaturated fat, which can improve cholesterol levels!
    • Who would have thought that it would be good for your eyes? Lutein and zeaxanthin—two antioxidants in corn—help protect your eyes from harsh sunlight!
    • Green tea. It’s got tons of antioxidants to keep you healthy. It’s also been known to reduce your risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
    • Beans and legumes. Fiber, fiber, fiber. (Enough said!)
    • Bell peppers. They’re vitamin C central. Half of a cup has over 2.3 times your recommended daily vitamin C intake!
    • Iced coffee. Proven to help lower your risk of skin cancer, this refreshing beverage is perfect for summer!
    • One cup of raw tomato provides ~40% of your daily vitamin C and ~20% of your daily vitamin A with just 35 calories.
    • Water, water, water.   It’s easy to get dehydrated in the summer (which is a pretty bad thing when you’re 70% water). Men and women should drink about 13 and 9 cups of water per day, respectively.
